Our Constitution

Dedicated to achieving a low energy self-reliant local community

Transition Pershore is just one of a growing number of communities worldwide who are waking up to the challenge of “peak-oil” and climate change and joining the Transition movement. The initiative was taken in 2008 to set up a Pershore group. This was launched at a public meeting in October 2009 and formally constituted in April 2010, with a Core Group, a number of Topic Groups and an administrative committee. Transition Pershore encompasses Pershore itself (pop. c 7,500) and surrounding villages.

Our strategic plan: To obtain support from and work with all sections of the community to achieve a continuous reduction in energy usage and growth in local self sufficiency.

Our aim: In five years to be able to call Pershore – ‘Low energy Pershore’ !

If you would like to be kept informed of what we are doing then please sign up, either as a supporter to receive news of what’s coming up, or as a participating member on one of our topic groups - by indicating your interest via our ‘Contacts’ page.

If you want to find out more about “Peak-oil”, the Transition movement, other Transition Towns in the area, or about Pershore, then visit the websites on our ‘Links’ page

How we intend to achieve change

By raising awareness of the issues through participation in local events, through meetings and film shows and through the use of local media; and by topic groups working with different sections of the community and local organisations to envisage and realise the opportunities for change in specific areas - such as Food supply, Transport, Energy use and efficiency, Waste, Water use, etc.

What we need

If you live or work in the area - we need you!

We need you - to understand - to join us - to help us make it happen!!

You can support us by attending our meetings, giving us your ideas, coming to our film shows; and by joining one of our topic groups. If you can bring specialist knowledge to any of our groups, that would be a bonus
